ABOUT
over the course of two decades, kimi recor, a berlin-based sonic artist, has immersed herself in a diverse range of musical genres, instruments, and styles. her creative practice has always been a medium for exploring deep connections to various worlds, including her inner self, the natural world, and the lives of others.
while recor's career was initially focused on playing in bands and collaborating with artists like john tejada, a pivotal moment came in 2020 after attending a soundbath featuring gongs and crystal bowls. this experience, with its intricate harmonics and array of frequencies, deeply affected her well-being and state of mind. motivated by this, recor began experimenting with these instruments, seeking guidance from numerous mentors to expand her understanding of frequency and its impact on human systems.
currently, recor is channeling her artistic energies into producing her debut full-length album. this new venture promises to blend organic instruments such as planetary paiste gongs and crystal glass bowls with analog synthesizers, ethereal field recordings, and lush vocals, aiming to create an experimental post-pop soundscape filled with a rich, dreamlike quality.
in addition to this project, recor is also passionately involved with schnallo, a self-produced post-punk, denglish neue welle band. known for their dynamic and intensely engaging live shows in berlin, schnallo brings a unique energy, combining post-punk fervor with the distinct flair of neue welle and lyrics in a blend of german and english.
continuing her practice of hosting monthly live soundbath sessions at her berlin studio, recor offers attendees a transformative experience, inviting them to immerse themselves in a sea of restorative frequencies and vibrations. this interdisciplinary approach to music-making underscores her commitment to exploring and engaging with the sonic and vibrational elements of our world, further establishing her as a versatile and influential figure in the music scene.
